Tmrw.Tday culture fest is the brainchild of Andrew Christoforou and Kevin Bourke. The Tmrw.Tday team sat down with the two managing partners to discuss their entrepreneurial journeys and the story behind Tmrw.Tday culture fest.
How long have you been working in the events and festival space?
A: I’ve been at the forefront of Toronto’s nightlife scene since 1999. You could say that I’ve touched all areas in the scene over the years. From throwing weekly residencies at all the major clubs, investing in a couple of venues and co-founding a couple of major festivals.
K: I have been involved in events all over Jamaica since 2001. I gathered with my best friends and started a party series, we created an environment that was fresh and delivered an experience from the moment you walked in.
Tell us about your journey to becoming more conscious as an individual?
A: Full credit goes to my wifey. Over the last couple of years she’s been a such an inspirational influence on me to simply be aware of my thoughts and emotions. Her favourite quote is “you don’t know what you don’t know”. The lesson is to be conscious of the fact that no matter how big a problem may seem, everything will work out. You can never stop learning in life. Yoga and dramatically changing to a fully organic diet has also really helped on my journey.
K: Well, I have always been someone that can not help but dream and needs to create. I enjoy nothing more than making others feel good in a single moment. I try everyday to be more mindful of your surroundings and living good with everything living. Forward Movements.
What makes Tmrw.Tday Culture Fest such a unique offering?
A: When you hear the term Festival, right away you think big stages, thousands of people getting wasted and pure chaos. It can be intimidating and annoying. Tmrw.Tday is the complete opposite. We’ve developed a week long experiential travellers dream vacation. Toes in the sand, chilled out vibes with a limited amount of attendees in year 1. The attendee is free to do whatever they choose. Tmrw.Tday culture fest is all about living in the moment and doing what feels right.
K: There are so many amazing people that have been apart of this journey that are coming together to create a truly unique experience. The curators of the wellness, music, food and alternative medicines are all masters of their craft that lead with passion. It is contagious.
What makes Tmrw.Tday so appealing to global and Jamaican artists and personalities?
A: The Jamaican culture and its people. I’ve done a lot of travelling and I have never seen such an immense amount of talent like you find in Jamaica. Not just musically; food, art, events and hospitality are second to none. I am most excited about the reggae resurgence happening led by our headline artist, Protoje and his band the Indiggnation.
K: I believe this island is a magnet to people that want to soak up and share positive energy. That alone allows artists to be true, natural creators. This is where they thrive and their magic is delivered to all. Artists need inspiration to continue to inspire.
How is Tmrw.Tday different from other wellness festivals?
A: The most unique part about Tmrw.Tday culture fest is that its ultimate goal is to have people go within to better themselves and find true happiness. Social Media has made many of us look outwards for acceptance and to be liked by people you don’t even know. The planet is at a very critical stage and we believe that you must take care of yourself first before you take action to better the world.
K: Wellness-infused, rich with Jamaican culture and lush surroundings will result in an event like no other. It’s a VIBE. You will see and feel it 🙂
What most excites you about year one of Tmrw.Tday?
A: We really wanted to create an exclusive experience so attendees go home with memories to last a lifetime. Our main venue on the beach, Irie Soul, is going to be paradise with many activations to help you just relax and enjoy life. I am most excited about our Farm to Table Dinner experience curated by David Wolfe at the Rockhouse Farm on the cliffs.
K: Seeing the people that have believed in our vision and supported us with their time and efforts having an amazing time.
Personally, what do you hope to get out of your own Tmrw.Tday journey?
A: There are two things that I want to personally achieve. The first is to simplify my personal and professional life. To not take on too much work and invest more into people for me is important. The second is giving back. I am excited for our Konscious Kids program where we will invite Negril School kids to enjoy a day at the beach, provide them with new school supplies and clothes.
K: I have received so much already, it is hard to articulate in words to be honest. I just want to do this for many years and grow the experiential tourism platform in Jamaica, to create opportunity for Jamaicans and an avenue to share our vibes with the world. We all grow.
