Discovering inner peace at a yoga class led Stacy Chang-Christoforou down a path of mindfulness that she now shares with her local community as a conscious lifestyle coach in Toronto.

Brief overview of your background in wellness/conscious lifestyle living.
My background in wellness includes studying and practising as a meditation guide and yoga instructor through the Naturality Path in Toronto and Nada Yoga school in Rishikesh, India. I lead guided group meditations, teach hatha and aerial yoga in Toronto. I also completed a life coaching course through The Centre of Applied Neuroscience in Toronto. I have coined myself a “conscious lifestyle coach”.

When did you start to live a conscious lifestyle?
I started to live a conscious lifestyle from the first yoga class I took. It was a combination of the savasana in the yoga practice and the teacher in particular that “woke” me up. After I got into the practice of meditation I noticed changes in my own behaviour and thought patterns. My practice became more engrained when I studied meditation through the Naturality Path and started integrating the practice and teachings of living according to my own innate nature into my daily life. I was guided to take the meditation program while sitting in stillness with the goal in mind to introduce meditation to as many people as possible.  This guidance came to me again, leading me to study yoga and meditation in India.

What do you do to strike a balance?
To strike balance I have learned that it is not about following a prescribed methodology it is about following my intuition and committing to a practice that feels right for me, day to day. Not making it a chore, rather a natural practice that changes day to day.

Have you found yourself? If you have, please tell us about your experience and when you knew who you really were.
I don’t think I can say I found myself, but I feel like I have found my calling, my purpose here. To raise the awareness and consciousness of the collective. To help people gain a better understanding of who they are and what they really want out of life.
I am here to be of service, to help heal others so that they are doing more than surviving in life, so that they are thriving.

Brief overview of Irie Soul. What does Irie Soul mean? Where did the idea come from?
IRIE – to be at peace with yourself and the status quo of your existence.

As my Jamaican heritage runs deep it came natural to use this term to express myself through my roots. To me, irie means to live a life that you love, enjoy, can feel proud of and are satisfied with. It is to live with purpose and to be genuinely happy from the inside. This requires looking within, facing and healing the parts of us that are not the most comfortable to look at. Making peace with these parts and accepting ourselves for who we are.

SOUL – the spiritual part of a person that is believed to give life to the body

This is the part of us to heal, love and accept. This part is eternal.

What do you hope to teach people?
I hope to teach people that living this type of life is possible and that we can all have an irie soul. We are the creators of our own experience. Through the ways of manifestation and the law of attraction, we have the power to create this type of life. I focus my teachings on cultivating an irie mind, through meditation and awareness of thoughts. An irie body, both inside and out, being conscious and aware of what we put into them. An irie life, living as individuals according to our unique nature, incorporating joyful experiences, doing things with meaning, knowing that we do not “need” so much, and letting go of the things that feed into the ego self.
