He might be considered a polarizing personality in the wellness world, but one thing is for certain, David ‘Avocado’ Wolfe has brought enormous awareness to health and wellness by pioneering the raw food movement. Living consciously means finding balance, and even Wolfe admits “it’s not always easy.
We sat down with Wolfe to learn more about his wellness journey.
Tell us about your wellness journey? How did you get to where you are now?
I’ve been observing what it means to be well my whole life…
My parents are medical doctors, and when I was young I would go with them to work. Because of this, I am aware of many aspects of the human condition that most people don’t see, particularly from a health and longevity perspective.
I had a realization in college and became a raw food vegetarian, and that transformed my body and taught me the power of truly nourishing, vital food. An incredible step on the path to wellness.
Years later, in August of 1994, I had an epiphany one night, when I realized that teaching health would become my role in the world, that would be my life’s career.
Describe how living a conscious lifestyle makes you feel?
It makes me feel the best ever all the time. It’s not always easy, but I know what needs to be done in order to have deep reserves of energy, how to heal myself, and to stack the odds in my favor to promote longevity
What is the biggest misconception people have about consuming a raw diet?
People tend to be too dogmatic or black and white about the diet. It’s not an all or nothing situation. Raw foods are something to invite into your diet, investigate and celebrate them. Adding raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, seaweeds and oils into your life will undoubtedly give you better energy and more vitality.
In what ways do you practice being mindful?
Awareness and consciousness is a present moment experience, and I tune into the flux of life as I go about the day. From moment to moment, I do my best to make the most conscious choices possible.
What motivates you each day to share your passion for wellness with the world?
The need is great and the love is high. It’s a solemn duty. Health is completely connected to happiness, so sharing my passion on how to create profound health in peoples lives to create more happiness is fuel for my work.
Who do you look to for support when it’s needed?
I trust and revere the support, advice and intuition of the wise women of my life.
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Believe nothing. Entertain possibilities.
What are you hoping to get out of your time at Tmrw.Tday?
Events like this for me are always about service to others. I’m hoping to bring the most extraordinary, best ever healing and rejuvenating experience to those who are with us.
